Announcing Scheduled Downtime

22Apr

We’ll conduct another major upgrade to our servers this weekend, starting Friday April 24 from 10pm (UTC) until Saturday morning at about 6am (UTC) and www.mindmeister.com will be unavailable during this period. To figure out when we are offline in your time zone please consult timeanddate.com.

Please avoid taking your maps offline with Google Gears before the downtime as we’re also upgrading MindMeister’s offline capabilities.

Update: As of Saturday 8am (UTC) our latest database migration is still running, and we hope it will be finished soon. Please bear with us a little longer and sorry for any inconveniences caused!

Update: Saturday 9:05am (UTC) we’re back! Please check out our new features, we’ll be presenting them in a special newsletter soon. There might still be some glitches but rest assured that they’ll be ironed out soon.

Hello

I just got the subscription for a year of premium mind-meister, and I’m using this tool as the organizational core of work. I’m really disappointed today because I’ve to stop working because all my notes, contacts, ideas, documentation, everything related to my work is in my mind maps. Even worst I was demoing this tool today to some colleagues trying to convince them that this is the way to go for creative thinking and organizational purposes, my colleagues just had a good laugh at me when I got the “Down for Maintenance” message. I recommend you to send notification emails when you are making maintenance, so I can plan a head and download my maps or look for another alternative, or at least not embarrass myself showing the tool when is down.

Thanks

AR

Hi Arnaldo – I’m sorry that our maintenance came at a bad time for you. We’re performing a major upgrade and will be online again tomorrow morning with new features. To be fair, we had a large, pink message on top of every user’s map list for the last three days announcing the downtime, we’ve written a blog post and sent a few twitter updates. Also, we’ve tried to pick the least busy time on our servers, although inconvenient for us (soon it’s 1am here). We’ve decided against sending an email to hundreds of thousands of users for this, also because we’d still miss some (non subscribers for example). But again sorry for any inconvenience caused, drop me an email to “michael at” so we can do something for you.
