MindMeister on XING

22Jul

XING, Europe’s largest business networking site – the LinkedIn of Europe if you will – has just launched its own OpenSocial API, as reported by Techcrunch and others.

As you can see above (and may have guessed by now), MindMeister is one of 13 launch applications of XING’s new Partner Ecosystem.  From today 7.5 million XING users will be able to add the MindMeister app at the click of a button to their homescreen and start creating and sharing mind maps with their XING contact network.

We’ve been working on the integration for a few months now and thankfully finished in time for the launch, overcoming all kinds of technical and artistic issues (for instance, how do you combine the MindMeister Blue & Pink with XING’s green tones in a non-offensive way?).

There’s a dedicated “Templates” tab on the XING app that allows users to clone predefined template maps to their account. Templates are available for personal task management, meeting minutes, creation of a business plan or even making a SWOT analysis. There’s even a template map for creating your resumé as a mind map and then adding it to your public XING profile (see Till’s profile below).

Existing MindMeister users can connect their account to XING and manage all their mind maps from the XING desktop. Also, all XING members get pretty nice discounts if they buy a full membership at MindMeister – 20% for XING premium users, 10% for free account holders. Read the full press release here.

MindMeister on Jolicloud

9Jul

Jolicloud, the new netbook OS by Netvibes founder Tariq Krim, has just released an improved alpha version for testing to a selected group of preview testers, and we’re very proud to be part of it: MindMeister comes preinstalled on the Jolicloud operating system – installed meaning that there’s a MindMeister icon in the Jolicloud application directory that brings you directly to the MindMeister site (soon also to a custom-built start page for Jolicloud users).

With the announcement of the Google Chrome OS there’s currently a lot of buzz around this topic and we believe that Tariq and his team have done an amazing job rethinking the overall layout of a desktop operating system for the Internet age (we’re not the only ones who think so, as proven by the recent $4.2m investment in Jolicloud by some major VCs).

Apart from MindMeister, many of the usual suspects are available on the Jolicloud desktop – Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Skype, Dropbox, MobileMe and many more. Take a look yourself at the Jolicloud tour or read their own announcement of the MindMeister integration.

MindMeister at MacWorld 2009

14Jan

First off, a belated Happy New Year to everybody!

So MindMeister was present at this year’s MacWorld in San Francisco. We were lucky to get a partner booth at Axiotron’s booth with a small partner stand, and Till flew in from Munich to join our US guys. Visitors could have a chat to the MeisterWorkers and marvel at MindMeister running on the latest Modbook – check out the video below to see Till demonstrate some of the new features of our latest release.

Here’s James posing happily together with Steve Wozniak, one of the founders of Apple Computer.

Making the most of a stay in the Valley the guys also met some partners and customers, such as Aaron and Jeremyfrom Box.net – nice offices btw!

Another integration: net-files

17Dec

At the same time as launching the Box.net partnership, we’ve also completed another API integration: MindMeister is now also available on net-files, a German online storage and file management provider. Click for more details on how MindMeister is integrated in net-files (in German)

MindMeister powers net-files

For our customers, the ability to create and edit documents online – without the need for locally installed software packages – gets more and more important. MindMeister and net-files complement each other in that we both focus on an intuitive user interface.  The combination of MindMeister and net-files offers the best solution regarding functionality and ease of use” explained Thomas Krempl, Founder and CEO of net-files GmbH.

Similar to the Box.net integration, net-files also allows editing of other mind mapping document formats like MindManagerTM and Freemind.

Box.net integrates MindMeister

9Dec

This one comes just in time for Christmas. As you know, the MindMeister API exposes pretty much all our functions for programmatic usage from within other apps. We’ve done first integration projects with other service providers already a while ago, e.g. with atoolo.

We’re particularly happy to announce the integration of MindMeister in Box.net, in our opinion the most appealing online file management service, and one of the coolest software-as-a-service pioneers. They were the first to offer editing services for their customers’ files right in the browser. But let’s let them talk:

MindMeister makes an excellent addition to Box.net’s OpenBox platform,” says Karen Appleton, VP of Business Development at Box.net. “Box.net’s collaboration and content solution provides the best experience for storing, managing and sharing your files. MindMeister gives our 2 million users the additional benefit of creating and sharing mind maps from any folder or file in their Box account, maximizing time and increasing productivity.

The integration used the much improved Embed API in MindMeister 3.0 which allows other services to piggyback on MindMeister without any cumbersome REST programming. All data is saved on the Box.net servers in the MindMeister (.mind) format, but also MindManagerTM and Freemind files can be edited.
